Season 10 of Overwatch 2 begins in April. With it, players will receive a brand-new damage hero. This hero happens to be the first to release completely for free. Here’s everything we know about Venture so far.
In the past, the game locks new heroes behind a specific tier of the Battle Pass, requiring players to purchase the Pass to unlock and start using them. However, Blizzard announced on March 19, 2024, that all following heroes are immediately unlocked as they launch. We get our first taste of this new feature with the exciting new damage hero, Venture.
We had a support release with Lifeweaver and then a tank release with Mauga, so it’s only fitting that we get another damage character to balance things out. Venture looks like the perfect hero for the job. Their unique kit of abilities is something we’ve never seen before in Overwatch.
Venture utilizes their excavation drill to burrow underground, evading enemies and popping up unexpectedly to surprise them. However, they can also use it to dash forward into the air, giving them plenty of mobility and countering tanky characters like Mauga or Reaper.
Not only does their drill allow them to burrow underground, but it’s also their weapon. They can use it to shoot their targets or knock them backward off a ledge. All these abilities look super promising, but the best by far is their ult. The Venture Gameplay Trailer shows their Tectonic Shock ultimate move creating an earthquake effect that possibly stuns and damages any enemies caught within its wave.
From everything we’ve seen so far, Venture looks like a blast of a hero to play, and thankfully, everyone will be able to try them out with their immediate launch in Season 10 on April 16, 2024.
