Along with the new romance, the obstacle course is now in place for those looking for a challenge. The patch also introduces pumpkin items for purchase to celebrate spooky season, as well as a slew of quality-of-life changes. Here are the full patch notes for update 0.170 for Palia.

New Content in Update 0.170
The two largest items in this update are the Obstacle Course and being able to romance Hodari. To begin the course, you must interact with an arcade machine with a house symbol on it in the Black Market. That will transport you to its location. Completing the course doesn’t grant you any sort of reward, but there are Zeki Coins and letters scattered around it for you to get.
When it comes to the new eligible bachelor, getting Hodari to respond to your advances can take a bit of doing. To start dating him, you need to have completed Najuma’s Friendship Level 4 quest, as well as Echoes of the Unknown. Getting to know his daughter is imperative for this romance to work.
To celebrate spooky season, you’ll notice pumpkins have appeared throughout Palia. In the small square behind Tish’s furniture shop, a mysterious register has also apparated, allowing you to purchase nine new themed items:
- Spooky Pumpkin.
- Spooky Jaak-O-Lantern.
- Spooky Sernuk-O-Lantern.
- Spooky Heirloom Pumpkin.
- Spooky Vined Pumpkin.
- Spooky Candles.
- Spooky Pumpkin Stack.
- Spooky Floating Candle.
- Spooky Pumpkin Wallpaper.
Quality of Life Changes in Update 0.170
New content aside, a variety of changes are taking effect in this patch.
- Cancel Recipes in Crafters.
- Doors, Hallways, and Porches don’t count towards the building add-on limit.
- Dowsing Rod requires less Coral.
- Ability to sort in the Workbench.
- Proximity Chat.
- Open or Close bookshelves and cabinets.
- Can place decor items on shelves.
- Sushi Recipe can now be caught by everyone.
- Making Sushi no longer freezes a player.
- Sticky Smoke Bombs work when catching bugs with others so everyone can get the critter.
