Just prior to the NBA 2K16 “Road To The Finals” championship game, 2K Games announced that Indiana Pacers forward Paul George will be the cover athlete for the regular edition of NBA 2K17. Newly retired Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, as previously announced, will be on the cover of the $69.99 Legend Edition of the game, which will include both physical and digital Kobe-related items.
Not long after breaking his leg in an exhibition game for the USA national team in 2014, George had a career year for the Pacers, averaging 23 points a game, along with 7 rebounds and 4 assists. He also scored a game-high 41 points in the 2016 NBA All-Star Game in Toronto, Canada, one shy from tying Wilt Chamberlain for the all-time record. His Pacers were eliminated by the Toronto Raptors in Game 7 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. George also made an appearance in the “Legends Live On” trailer announcing the Legend Edition of the game, which you can view above.
No official release date for NBA 2K17 has been announced yet, but the game is expected to be released in late September.
