Pokemon XY “The Archdjinni of the Rings: Hoopa” (known internationally as “Pokemon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages”) and the short film “Pikachu and the Pokemon Band” were simultaneously released on Saturday, July 18th.  This joint release is accompanied by the collaborative promotional event: “Summer Vacation Pokemon Carnival in Sunshine City”, held at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Tokyo.  Each shop in Sunshine City has prepared its own unique Pokemon themed event.

One of the restaurants, “The Trattoria Paradiso by Sweets Paradise”, (originally an Italian restaurant located in the specialist shop district Alpa on the first floor) has transformed itself into the “Pikachu and the Pokemon Band Café by Sweets Paradise” as of July 17th.  It will remain this way for an entire month.

Both the exterior and interior give off the feel of the world of “Pikachu and the Pokemon Band,” designed with the image of a cottage in the woods in mind. Numerous Pokemon that appear in both films greet customers brimming with energy.

The western-style menu offers a choice from 3 kinds of main dishes, 2 sides, 3 desserts and 4 drinks featuring adorable visuals and high volume. For those who want to cover the entire menu, it may be necessary to come more than once, and with a group of people. Fully loaded with small jokes that will leave Pokemon fans openly grinning, from the moment the food is brought over to the table it promises to be a feast for the eyes as much as the stomach.

Even the very moment before the food is revealed is something to look forward to. Modeled after the Pokeball, guests can hear the happy voices from various Pokemon coming from their food covers as they are lifted up. The anticipation for which Pokemon each customer will hear is yet another thing to look forward to.

With its name taken from “Pikachu and the Pokemon Band”, the café also features a stage in the shape of a forest where large models of Pokemon appear to be happily singing with lots of lively motion. While the Pokemon themselves do not perform, once every hour there is a “Dance Time” event, narrated by Pikachu and Meowth. As Pokemon XY’s popular ending theme “Roaring All-Stars” sung by Little Glee Monster starts to play, employees break into dance.

This shop will not only be offering a Pokemon original menu, but it will also be selling limited goods and souvenirs.

Aside from café souvenir goods like “Pikachu Cake” and “Pokeball Macarons,” visitors can also buy the aprons and headbands worn by employees. These take-home merchandise is also sold outside the café, so it is possible to purchase them without having to enter the store itself.
