At this year’s Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, there are plenty of games being shown. The GDC is being held from March 16-18th and over this time different interactive games will be shown and ideas will be exchanged. One such game that was shown on day one was Planet Lickers.
Planet Lickers is a game where the player licks flavored ice pops on a USB-connected controller. By licking a popsicle you can maneuver your character around obstacles and towards the nearest planet of the same color.
Now I don’t know about you but licking plain tasting plastic just doesn’t seem appealing to me while I play a game. The developers of Planet Lickers though have us covered by rolling out some flavors for your taste buds delight. The current flavors created are Orange Cream, Matcha Lemonade, Blue Vanilla, Coffee, Beet, and Blueberry.
Planet Licker avoids the awkward moment of you handing the slobber filled controller to the next person by bringing replaceable, single-use popsicles. So no worries about using a 3-month-old controller and licking the same surface over multiple times. So while the controller is used numerous times the actual area being licked is not. According to the Planet Licker website they choose flavors that work in harmony for their demo’s. My question is what flavors work in harmony with the beet flavor?
