After the sequel to the wildly popular Plants vs. Zombies, Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time, released on iOS this past summer, it went on to see over 25 million downloads – a number that exceeds the lifetime downloads of the first game.
If 25 million downloads wasn’t enough, it looks like there will be a lot more – the game is now available worldwide for the Android platform. It was never really clear as to why it was iOS exclusive at first, but there were rumors that Apple paid Electronic Arts a “truckload of money” to delay the Android release – something Apple denied, stating that no money was exchanged. EA later denied the rumors, stating that the original quote was taken out of context.
The Android release will have the same features as the iOS version, including the controversial in-app purchases. However, you can play the entire game for free without buying anything. The in-app purchases are there as a means of extra, optional content and a way to speed up the game.
What do you think? Are you excited for the Android release? Do you think the in-app purchases negatively affect the gameplay? Let me know in the comments below!
