PlayStation 3 Wins the.. Netflix War?

The PlayStation 3 is #1.. at providing Netflix. The PlayStation Blog announced today that more people use their PS3 to watch the video streaming service than any other device, sans the PC.

The PlayStation 3 is #1.. at providing Netflix. The PlayStation Blog announced today that more people use their PS3 to watch the video streaming service than any other device, sans the PC.

The PlayStation 3 was the first device to offer Netflix at 1080p, and has maintained its dominance above other portable and living room-based options.

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings cites the reason for the PS3’s popularity over the other options as being because of frequency and transparency of the app’s updates on the console. He also states that at times the PS3 “even surpassed the PC in hours” of viewing. That’s pretty impressive.

All “no games” comments aside, it seems the PS3 has done something very well: Become the multimedia hub and gaming console combination that it initially intended to be. The connectivity between the console and the Vita further solidifies this, as users can seamlessly transfer what they are watching between one and the other.
