PlayStation 4 video games connect gamers socially using Twitch and Ustream Internet streaming services over 800,000 times
Sony Computer Entertainment announced today that PlayStation 4 video games have broadcast live to over 7.1 million viewers, since being released across North America and Europe in November, 2013. Up to this point, over 800,000 PlayStation 4 gamers have broadcast their gameplay to hard-core gamers and interested spectators around the planet, using the internet streaming services of Twitch and Ustream. For a total of more than 20 million minutes of live gameplay of your favorite PlayStation 4 video games streamed from around 2.1 million PlayStation 4 consoles around the world.
“PlayStation 4 is specifically designed so people can share their gaming experiences and interest in streaming live gameplay has surpassed our wildest expectations,” said Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios. “We’re very excited to see gamers embrace live streaming from their PS4 system and we look forward to seeing how PlayStation gamers advance social gaming in the coming years.”
Twitch reports that over 10 percent of their current content is live streaming of PlayStation 4 video games being played by hard-core gamers around the world. Ustream indicates viewers are spending an average of 31 minutes enjoying live streaming of gamers playing their favorite PlayStation 4 video games.
Twitch and Ustream report PlayStation 4 gamers are mainly live streaming Battlefield 4, Killzone: Shadow Fall, and Call of Duty: Ghosts gameplay content presently, but as the social network of the new PlayStation 4 expands, we can certainly expect more PlayStation 4 games will be broadcast live in the future.
In 2014, PlayStation 4 video games like inFAMOUS: Second Son and MLB 2014: The Show will release, and the live streaming of this content will be very entertaining to view. Activision should release Destiny during 2014, and live streaming of Watch Dogs from Ubisoft Entertainment could be a hit of the year. SCE WWS is also expected to release The Order 1886 and DriveClub this year, and the gameplay of these PlayStation 4 video games will be absolutely breathtaking to view streamed live.
