Today, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) has revealed that global sales of their next-gen console have hit 6 million units. This includes the 370,000 they sold in Japan since the machine launched on February 22.

The PS4 has reached 6 million in less than 4 months, which is pretty impressive. Sony shared a few other pertinent statistics as well: For instance, software sales have crossed 13.7 million as of March 2, 2014, and there have been 100 million Shares captured with over 56 million recorded spectate sessions. Currently, SCE Worldwide Studios offers more than 30 PS4 titles and many more are on the horizon, including exclusives such as inFamous: Second SonDriveclub and The Order: 1886.

Lastly, 3.6 million users have already downloaded the new PlayStation App, and more than half of PS4 owners are also Plus subscribers. The latter stat isn’t too surprising, as Plus is required if you wish to play games online. The PS4 is now available in all major territories around the globe and thus far, it appears to be a very hot item.

Where are the Xbox One sales?

We keep getting updates for PS4 sales figures, so where are the Xbox One updates? Last we heard, Microsoft had sold 3 million units as of December 31, 2013 but since then, no official word on the total sales. That could be a bad sign; maybe the PS4 is outstripping the Xbox One by a bigger margin than anyone anticipated… including Microsoft.
