Today Sony detailed the upcoming 1.70 update coming soon to the PlayStation 4. The update will come with some features that fans have been waiting for.
The update will come with a gameplay video editing app called SHAREfactory.
With SHAREfactory, gamers will be able to combine their captured videos for editing, and be able personalize them with filters, transitions, and themes, as well as share them with friends and their social networks.
Users can further personalize their videos with text, stickers, and a set of audio tracks, as well as video commentary with picture-in-picture capability using the PlayStation Eye. Gamers will also be able to add their original music to create a custom soundtrack for their video.
Upload where you want
Once done, SHAREfactory can easily share the video to Facebook. If a player wants, they can also export the video to an external USB storage device and upload the videos elsewhere. Other enhancements coming with SHAREfactory is the ability to change the recording of gameplay to shorter increments, and the ability to choose who the video gets shared with on the SHARE screen.
Also included is the ability to remove default saves for screenshots and video clips. In addition, players will be able to switch off HDCP, enabling players to capture video directly from their HDMI output so they can record and share longer clips of gameplay sessions.
Pre-download games ahead of release
Also included in the 1.70 update is the ability to pre-download games. Players will be able to pre-download their pre-ordered games several days before release. When the game unlocks on release day, gamers will be able to jump right in and skip what could be lengthy download times.
Sony says that these features are the direct result of the feedback that they receive from gamers.
It is good that Sony is listening to the gamers, and providing them with the services that they ask for. I do not do record gameplay videos often, but if I do decide to, it is nice to have the capabilities to edit the videos to come out the way that I want them to. As I am impatient, the ability to pre-download is something that I wanted on the PS4.
Now, you can just jump into the games you pre-ordered right away when they launch. Hopefully Sony will continue to listen to the gamers and continue to enhance the experience on their consoles for more enjoyment. Now they need to start giving this attention to the Vita.
