Sony Computer Entertainment announced the formation of ForwardWorks Corporation, a new branch that is created to bring PlayStation titles to mobile gaming. ForwardWorks will begin operation April 1st, 2016 — which also is the same date Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. will change its company name to Sony Interactive Entertainment inc.
There is a twist to this news as ForwardWorks will focus on markets based in Japan and Asia. Sony has stated the company will look to deliver “full-fledged” game titles to the mobile market.
This is not the first time Sony has attempted to enter the mobile gaming market. IN the past Sony launched PlayStation Mobile, a service tied directly to its Vita handheld device. That program was closed for good in the summer of 2015.
Interestingly, this announcement comes the same month that Nintendo released its first mobile game, Miitomo, which is more of a social app that lets you create cartoon-like avatars rather than an actual mobile game.
So which PlayStation titles would you like to see come to the mobile market? Let me know in the comments below.
