Pocketpair Announced the 10 Most Popular Pals in Palworld

Pocketpair just revealed players' picks for the 10 most popular Pals in Palworld. Here's who made the cut.

Over the weekend, Palworld developer and publisher Pocketpair revealed the top 10 most popular Pals in the Valentine Art Giveaway. The results were determined by a vote taken for the event, which received input from players all around the world.

I was excited to see some of my personal favorites rank, but there were a few surprises sprinkled into the mix as well. Let’s take a look at the top picks among fans of the breakout monster-catcher game.

10. Pengullet

I won’t lie — I was totally expecting to see Pengullet make the list. Although I had anticipated this Water/Ice-type would rank a bit higher, there’s been no shortage of love for this Pal since Palworld’s launch back in January and even prior to its release. It’s adorable, and you can fire it off from a rocket launcher. What’s not to like?

9. Cattiva

One of three quintessential starter Pals in Palworld, Cattiva was bound to make the cut. These pure Normal-types make excellent picks in the early-game, boasting Mining, Gathering, Transporting, and Handiwork suitability. While you quickly outgrow this Pal on your playthrough, it looks like many of us have had a hard time parting ways with one of our first partners.

8. Relaxaurus

Relaxaurus is just as cute as it is downright dangerous — a dynamic that’s given this Water/Dragon-type some serious staying power among fans. It’s one of the best watering Pals around, which makes it a top choice for farming. Aside from that, though, Relaxaurus is also an absolute powerhouse on a team, serving as a mount that allows you to launch missiles at foes.

7. Daedream

From early on in my own Palworld playthrough, Daedream has been one of my favorites. I saw one of these Dark-types for the first time while attempting to outlast a cold night by the campfire at my bare-bones base, and I just had to have one on my team. Once I crafted its necklace item, my Daedream didn’t leave my side until mid-game. I’m stoked to see this Pal receive so much love from other players, too.

6. Lamball

Like Cattiva, Lamball is available to catch from the very start of your Palworld playthrough. While its uses are primarily related to farming resources, this Pal is just too loveable to leave behind as you level up — and it shows. Because you can catch heaps of these Normal types just about anywhere, they make the perfect Pals to work on assembly lines at your base through the mid-game.

5. Quivern

Another one of my personal favorites, Quivern, has proven to be one of the most popular Pals in the game, even prior to Pocketpair’s Valentine Art Giveaway. This fluffy Dragon-type is deceptively tough, dealing huge damage to opponents while mounted. It’s certainly a hard hitter, but let’s face it. Quivern’s charming design is a big part of its widespread appeal. Just look at those feathered ears.

4. Anubis

Before Palworld’s launch in January, Anubis came in at number eight on my list of Pals that most resemble Pokemon, the Ground-type’s doppelganger being Lucario. Since the Fighting/Steel-type Pokemon was introduced in Gen IV of the mainline games, it’s remained a fan-favorite. That said, it comes as no surprise that Anubis has garnered the same level of popularity in its respective series.

3. Katress

In all honesty, I hadn’t expected to see Katress dubbed one of the most popular Pals in Palworld. Despite its clever design and offensive capabilities, I haven’t seen too much buzz about this Dark-type. While surprising, I’m definitely happy to see this Pal rank among the likes of Anubis and Quivern. Who knows? Maybe the news will encourage even more players to give Katress a shot on their team.

2. Depresso

Hello, Depresso, my old friend. Following Palworld’s release, this nocturnal Pal quickly became the face of the game thanks to memes that made their rounds across TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), and even Instagram. It goes without saying this Dark-type’s demeanor really speaks to fans, and it’s taken Depresso all the way to the number-two spot on Pocketpair’s list of the most popular Pals.

1. Chillet

Taking its rightful spot at the top is Chillet, the very first Dragon-type Pal you can catch on your playthrough. This ferret-like Pal wiggled its way into the hearts of players soon after the game entered Early Access, stealing a spot on our list of the cutest Pals in Palworld, to boot. With one of the most memorable designs in the game, it’s great to see Chillet receive the recognition it deserves.

Until we meet even more species in the finished game, that wraps up the results of the most popular Pals in Palworld. You can now watch Pocketpair’s coverage of the ranked list on the developer’s official YouTube channel.
