PlayStation Now is Sony’s new Netflix-like subscription service, designed to allow gamers to rent a wide variety of titles in the PlayStation library. In other words, you could pay to rent a PS3 game while on your PS4.
The service will be available on all PlayStation Platforms (PS4, PS3, Vita) as well as smartphones, tablets and even Bravia TVs. However, one big question remains: How much will it cost?
Well, VG24/7 may have stumbled upon the answer. Citing an image they spotted at Gaikai’s website, we see big PS3 titles with prices attached: For example, renting Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception will cost $5, and the cost of renting Far Cry 3 is $6. If accurate, it would mean that even the biggest titles will only cost about five bucks to rent. Is that agreeable to you?
Gaikai is the cloud service Sony purchased back in 2012 for $380 million. This tech will help power the PlayStation Now service, and we’re all waiting on official details. We’d also like to know how long we can have these games, once rented. A few days? A week?
It’s also feasible that this picture may only be a mock-up. However, why put prices in if it’s purely fictional? No, this seems quite possible, and it’s only a matter of time before Sony reveals the pricing plan for Now.
