One of the few worthwhile games releasing before next-gen is soon to be at hand. Splinter Cell: Blacklist is the 7th in the series and follows Sam Fisher as he tries to keep the antagonist of the game, known as the Engineers, from completing escalating attacks on U.S. soil known as the Blacklist. With Sam now in charge of his own secret organization (the 4th Echelon,) Your mission is to stop the attacks at all costs.
In comparison to previous games, where stealth was your only true option, this game gives you a choice in how you carry out each mission. The newest trailer categorizes them as either:
- Ghost, where you can choose to subdue enemies quietly and leave them alive,
- Panther, where you will still move quietly but not show mercy by using lethal force on your enemies,
- And lastly, you can go full assault and just kill anything in your way. The goal of assault mode is to destroy EVERYTHING in your way and leave no witnesses.
Splinter Cell: Blacklist will release for all current gen consoles and PC on August 20th. The current price is $59.99 for the standard version, $69.99 for deluxe, and $129.99 for the collector’s edition which includes an R/C airplane crafted to resemble the paladin aircraft featured in the game.
