Ah, the good ol’ days of 80s cheeseball action. Time to relive the phenomenon that was Rambo!
According to a translated article at Eurogamer, Rambo: The Video Game will release on February 21. Obviously, this is the European date but gamers in North America should expect to see it around the same time.
Two different editions will be available in the European region: There’s the standard edition and the special Collector’s set, which includes unannounced downloadable content, the first three Rambo films, and even a collectible figurine of the burly protagonist.
The translated information says we can expect 16 levels based on the movies, and each level will feature different routes. Remember, this is an old-school, arcade-y, on-rails shooter. As for length, they’re estimating 3 or 4 hours if you rush right through, but there are 10 or even 20 hours if you choose to enjoy the “full experience” and try to unlock everything.
That’s a lot of extra hours. Wonder what we’ll be able to do? What kind of Trophies and Achievements will we try to get? Above all else, will this admittedly outdated mechanic fly in this day and age?
Nobody disses Rambo
Even if the game ends up sucking, you’re still not allowed to cast aspersions on one of the most legendary action heroes in film history. I’ve never been too interested in on-rails shooters (even back in my arcade days), but this might prove refreshing. A guilty pleasure? One can hope.
