Reddit user roobre and developer David Vicente Campos have just released a new app on the Google Play Store which allows gamers to keep track of all the various deals on Steam. The app is called Steam Sales and is available for free, as it is supported by ads. The creators did offer a limited number of ad-free versions, but these have all been snapped up.
As well as allowing you to view Steam sales on your phone, the app also lets you sort them by price, discount percentage, and average review score. There’s also a feature called Rules, which lets you search for games using specific parameters such as game category, tags, metascore, positive review percentage, and current price. The app will even send push notifications to your phone when it finds a game that matches your Rules.
So far the app is pretty simple, but the creators are planning some big updates. If users react well to Steam Sales, the developers will localize the software for different languages and add support for more currencies. At the moment, Steam Sales can only show prices in USD. Roobre has also said that he plans to add Steam account and Wishlist integration.
Unfortunately this app will only be available for Android devices for the forseeable future. Neither of the developers have the required programming skills to create apps for Apple devices. However, roobre has said that he may hire an iOS programmer sometime in the future.
Steam Sales is available right now for Android devices. You can pick it up at the Play Store free of charge. Tell us what you think of this idea in the comments section below. For more news about Steam, stick with GameSkinny.com
