Rovio, the entertainment media company behind Angry Birds, has revealed the next installation in its Angry Bird franchise.
Angry Birds: Star Wars 2 will launch on September 19 across app stores worldwide and will incorporate elements from the Star Wars prequels along with 30 new Angry Birds: Star Wars characters.
“At this point we will not comment on rumors or speculation that Jar Jar Binks will be in the game.”
To compliment the game there will also be a line of over 30 collectable TELEPODS figures from Hasbro. According to the official post placing these figures onto your phone or table camera will “scan your character of choice directly into the game, allowing you to select new characters on the fly.”
Last month Rovio and Hasbro announced an expanded Angry Birds licensing agreement that allowed Hasbro to develop toys and physical games based on the Angry Birds Brand.
“The new agreement makes Hasbro the premier toy licensee for Angry Birds, including the upcoming game Angry Birds Go! set to be released this year,”
“In addition, Hasbro will continue to develop and expand their already highly successful collaboration with Angry Birds Star Wars from Rovio Entertainment and LucasFilm.” The two companies said in a press release last month.
The original game was released for apple’s iOS store back in 2009 and has sold over 1.7 billion copies across all platforms and including both regular and special editions.
