Risk of Rain Returns Artificer Survivor, Providence Trials Revealed

Risk of Rain Returns will let you test your mettle in Providence Trials, along with incorporating a new class from Risk of Rain 2.

A new Risk of Rain Returns survivor and game mode, Artificer and Providence Trials, have been revealed by Hopoo Games and Gearbox Publishing. The additions to the upcoming remake of the indie roguelike cult classic were detailed in the Dev Thoughts 30 video on YouTube, and Hopoo said it will be adding the additional survivor alongside a series of trials that players can tackle to test their skills with new challenges.

The survivor being added into the mix is none other than the Artificer. Introduced in Risk of Rain 2, the Artificer might not have a third dimension to deal with anymore, but will still be packing her devastating offensive skills and her unique power Snapfreeze. It should add a new way for teams to compose themselves in co-op challenges.

As for those challenges, Risk of Rain Returns will be getting what Hopoo is calling the “Providence Trials.” There will be a series of these available to players that will put their skills in combat effectiveness and player mobility to the test. For the successful completion of these challenges, players will be able to unlock alternate abilities for each survivor that they can take into the main game.

Risk of Rain Returns is planned for release on PC and Nintendo Switch sometime this year. It can be wishlisted on Steam and Switch.
