Although it has since been removed, Rockstar Leeds put up an available position on their site asking for a programmer who will help port current generation games to the PC.
Rockstar Watch found the posting which read:
“Rockstar Leeds are currently looking for a talented graphics programmer to help bring our latest titles to the PC platform. Working together with the other Rockstar studios, you will be responsible for maintaining the studio’s uncompromising quality bar, delivering the highest quality PC experience possible.”
There is also mention of “working with skilled developers on Next Generation games”, so they are planning not only to create ports of games like GTA V, but future Rockstar games.
This is welcome news, seeing as PC gamers currently have to wait up to 6 months for ports for Grand Theft Auto games, or worse, not even receive a port like 2010’s Red Dead Redemption.
This means Rockstar has acknowledged their short comings with PC titles and are looking to remedy the situation. After all, the orignal Grand Theft Auto was created for DOS systems and only later ported to consoles.
While they are not exactly returning to their roots, they are no longer going to leave PC players twiddling their thumbs waiting for the “newest” titles. Good on you Rockstar.
