Back in April, we reported that Reddit user shinyquagsire23 discovered surprising details in the decrypted 1.06 update for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS. This month, videos have surfaced practically confirming those details, but following Artsy Omni’s sophisticated Rayman hoax, there’s still an ounce of cautious skepticism in the air.
This new update comes in the form of an unlisted YouTube video by user TripleXero, which is an apparent character reveal montage for Street Fighter‘s Ryu Hayabusa. A second, regularly listed video exists thanks to YouTube user MemeScreen, which features Fire Emblem‘s Roy in the same way.
Both videos show characters on Smash Bros. stages from multiple angles, interacting with items and performing signature moves on other characters. I’d say that it’s safe to put our skepticism aside, but until we get an official statement from Nintendo, I’m still a potential monkey’s uncle.
Expect a confirmation by June 14th, when Nintendo hosts their E3 Super Smash Bros. livestream.
