More and more indie developers are heading to crowdfunding platforms such as Kickstarter to raise the much-needed funds they need to produce their games. Some don’t quite make it but sometimes a game comes into the arena that storms away from the competition and instantly gets backers. This has happened with Swedish developers Tarhead Studio and their debut game RUiN. Their crowdfunding campaign was launched on February 2nd and as of today, February 11th, the campaign has already received over 75 percent of its target ($8,480 out of a total of $11,210) — and it still has 25 days to go.
RUiN is a top-down arcade arena brawler that has been inspired by an old Warcraft III mod called Warlock. Players are able to customize their characters with a whole host of abilities, which will totally play to their strengths and weaknesses. There are currently three tribes in RUiN, which players must choose from. There are Bears, Apes, and Red Pandas. Each tribe has their own playstyle, background, and appearance customization options.
The main form of combat in the game is knockback abilities. This might not sound very fun, but the arenas are littered with traps, snares, and other hazards, which are perfect for knocking opponents into to give you the upper hand (and probably the win!).
There are still plenty of days left to back RUiN’s Kickstarter campaign, so if you fancy helping them unlock their stretch goals and getting your hands on some neat rewards, head on over and help them out! You can also visit Tarhead Studios website for more info.
