Remember the good ol’ days where you enjoyed Super Smash Bros. Brawl with your friends, kicking each other’s asses and crying when you lost? How about the Subspace Emissary? That was cool, with cutscenes for the characters. Now that Super Smash Bros. is coming out for the Wii U and 3DS, we all hoped it would have those awesome cutscenes too…nope.
Masahiro Sakurai announced at E3 this year that the new Super Smash won’t have the same storyline and cutscenes that Brawl did. Why? Because some jerks decided to upload some of the cutscenes and reveal them to the public. Thanks for ruining it for all of us, guys. The game won’t even have a story mode.
Sakurai said,
“You can only truly wow a player the first time he sees [a cutscene]. I felt if players saw the cutscenes outside of the game, they would no longer serve as rewards for playing the game, so I’ve decided against having them.”
Staying optimistic, Sakurai and his hard-working team decided to make introduction scenes for the new characters, Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer and the Animal Crossing villager. Also, there will be a single-player campaign option. As for the 3DS version, Sakurai said that it will ”act as a separate mode from the standard versus play.” The game will still be awesome, so keep your chin up, Super Smash fans!
