Although it shows no human characters, the trailer instead reveals an annihilated city and a lone Aragami. The narration also reveals that an ongoing disaster has destroyed the Fenrir organization, with only the strongest being able to survive.

In the God Eater series, your character is a member or ally of the Fenrir organization, whose job is to exterminate Aragami, frightening creatures that appeared suddenly and destroyed most of the world prior to when the first game takes place.

The most recent game in the series, God Eater 2: Rage Burst, was released in Japan on February 19, 2015, and in western territories on August 30, 2016 for PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows. Additionally, those who preordered the game received a free download code for God Eater Resurrection, an enhanced port of the first game.

This new project in the God Eater series was first announced at the Tokyo Game Show in 2016. It is currently unknown what platform(s) the game will be on.
