It has been a busy couple weeks for problematic Twitter posts. Nintendo Korea’s Twitter account has now landed the gaming giant’s division in the country in serious trouble. A television weather reporter has become a bit of a Korean television celebrity, and apparently someone at Nintendo Korea is not happy about it.
She should have just stayed as a TV Meteorologist. Getting all the work done on her face like that. How come a brainless bitch like you gets the entire spotlight? Who is your sponsor? TV…sigh…
An important detail to note is the word ‘sponsor’, used in this context, is a slur implying someone paying money and/or influence in exchange for sexual favors. A spokesperson from Nintendo Korea stated they have no idea who posted the tweet but that it was not a Nintendo employee, and it obviously does not reflect the company’s beliefs or policies.
While Nintendo tries to determine who the culprit is in this rather extreme example of social media quotes, the current leading theory is an employee accidentally used the company Twitter feed instead of their personal (and hopefully private) Twitter.
No matter what the truth is, if that is the current best theory there is clearly someone at Nintendo Korea who needs to be talked to very firmly about how their attitudes represent the company.
