The Pokemon Sword and Shield 2020 International Challenge February Online Competition (*takes breath*) is almost upon us. Most of us don’t compete in online Pokemon tourneys, but The Pokemon Company is offering some Ball Guy-themed incentive to participate in at least one battle.

Anyone who signs up for the February Online Competition and takes part in at least one battle gets a free downloadable apparel item for their Pokemon Sword and Shield avatar. Here’s how The Pokemon Company describes it: “…a fashionable T-shirt featuring their good friend Ball Guy…”

Fashionable, we won’t question, since Sword and Shield offer plenty of ways to look snazzy. Good friend is another matter. Unofficial Sword and Shield mascot the Ball Guy may be, but this humble writer finds him more than a little creepy.

Anyway, if you want your Ball Guy shirt, you’ll need to link your Pokemon Trainer Club account (free to have) with your Nintendo Account (also free) and keep them linked until you’re awarded your Championship Points for your match.

If you’re interested, signup is open now and runs through February 27 at 6:59 p.m. EST/3:59 p.m. PST.

You can check out the full details at The Pokemon Company’s website. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Pokemon news as it bounces our way.

You'll usually find him playing RPGs, strategy games, or platformers, but he's up for almost anything that seems interesting.
