Atlanta-based developer Hi-Rez Studios has announced a brand-new game mode for their MOBA, SMITE. Detailed in a recent press release is the addition of a new adventure game mode titled “The Trial of King Hercules”.
This new mode will play “like a classic dungeon experience”, offering SMITE players “a whole new way to play the gods and goddesses of mythology with their friends”. As seen in the screenshots released, this new mode is reminiscent of those found in the Dota and Diablo series.
Not only does this new game mode offer a change of perspective for the MOBA, but also a completely different playing experience. Instead of the already-established arena based, PVP combat SMITE is known for, “The Trials of King Hercules” presents the player with the opportunity to traverse dungeons as part of a team of three, testing their mettle against AI-controlled enemies.
It also introduces a new town hub, where players have the chance to accept different quests in exchange for gold, which can then be used to purchase in-game items, such as equipment and buffs, that can be used on adventures.
Project Lead on SMITE Adventures, Travis Brown, expressed his excitement surrounding the addition of this new mode, and revealed the different experience players will face in the all-new Adventure mode.
The Trials of King Hercules is our most detailed SMITE Adventure to date with unique methods of progression, quests, mobs, bosses, and loot drops.
