The Grand Theft Auto series is known for having a cornicopia of experiences. You can spend your life dedicated to finding all the hidden objects. If you want to do every single mission, you’re free to do so. If you want to go on a murderous rampage and evade the cops for the next few hours while gripping the controller in a tumultuous grip, you can do that too.
I haven’t played a GTA game since San Andreas, and while I have fond memories of all of the above, I do remember one element of the game that stood out to me – the soundtrack. They managed to get a good variety of genres and artists in the game, and it always seemed to fit the mood of what I was doing. Everything from running down the competition to jumping train tracks in an intense chase was covered.
If you have a Spotify account you can go ahead and listen to the entire soundtrack selected for the game. From NWA to Snoop Dogg and Elton John to Britney Spears, there will be plenty of music for everyone — the idea of engaging in some of the more violent elements of the game while Elton John is blaring amuses me to no end, and rolling through a dangerous neighborhood with Britney Spears playing sounds like a blast.
However, the music always adds to the game experience and it cannot be ignored.
The soundtrack consists of 86 songs, so the game is packed with a solid selection of tunes that shouldn’t get old as you play. Go ahead and check it out.
