Years after Oddworld: Abe’s Oddyssey launched for the Sony PlayStation, Oddworld Inhabitants has released a PlayStation 4 reboot of the franchise with Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty.
To celebrate the launch of the remake, the developer has posted a video featuring the first 10 minutes of gameplay, and while New ‘N’ Tasty may not exactly push the PlayStation 4 to the limits in terms of graphics, fans of the original games will recognize many quality of life improvements to the core mechanics of the game.
New ‘N’ Tasty is a remake of the original Oddworld: Abe’s Oddyssey and follows the trials and travails of Abe just as before. Run, sneak, chant, and even fart your way through dozens of side-scrolling levels as you help Abe rescue his enslaved people – the Mudokons – from the greedy, corporate syndicate of the Glukkons and their meat-processing plant Rupture Farms.
The graphical revamp of New ‘N’ Tasty really adds impact to the punishing aspect of the game by making visuals crisp. Run, Abe!
The video shows the first 10 minutes of gameplay – without debate the easiest 10 minutes – but don’t let it fool you. Oddworld Inhabitants has saved all the original flare of Oddyssey, including the insanely punishing puzzle gameplay. The PlayStation 4 remake does boast improved graphics, new cutscenes, new speech, new gameplay features –
New ‘N’ Tasty launched on PlayStation 4 on Wednesday, July 23rd, and Oddworld Inhabitants has announced that a version of the remake is in development for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, and PC with more details to be announced later.
