So, who has ever went on the Playstation Network store and thought to themselves “Hm, I wish there were indie-games in this store…”? Well, Sony is finally answering our prayers and is adding the category today.
The Indie Games category will house all of Sony’s latest indie titles and aims to highlight “some of the most unique gaming experiences” on PlayStation platforms. The Indie Games section will launch with some of PlayStation’s most well-known indie titles, including “The Unfinished Swan” and “Journey“, as well as “Guacamelee” and “Thomas Was Alone“.
http://blog.us.playstation.com/ says:
“This category builds on the support that PlayStation has offered independent developers in the effort to highlight some of the most unique gaming experiences on PlayStation platforms. Most recently, we released four stellar independently developed games during our recent Spring Fever event on the PlayStation Store. We also showcased upcoming PS3 and PS Vita games from indie developers along with highlighting two new games coming to the PS4 during our recent Indie Arcade at GDC.”
To mark the announcement, Sony has cut the prices and offered promotions for various games. New deals on select titles will be made available on a weekly basis.
Now all they have to do is make the Playstation Game Development completely open source (for us small indie-devs to play with) and I will be completely satisfied.
