Be careful the next time you turn on your PS3.
There is a new update for the firmware and in the Sony Support Forums there has been an outcry of people claiming their systems no longer boot properly. The most common issue seems to be that the PS3 will not get past the point of it showing the PS3 logo upon start up. At this point it seems everyone should avoid the update unless it has already auto-updated for you.
Bare in mind that this issue is from person to person. There is speculation that it has something to do with larger hard drives and if you have a Slim PS3 compared to the fat one. Again, this is speculation and nothing seems to be confirmed just yet.
However, this is not preventing panic. Some people are losing their minds completely and creating wild demands. For some reason Sony owes them for an update that is causing a problem that should be fixable within a days time. Some are talking about deserving a PS4 for free or wanting free games. Here is a good example of how not to act:
At this point, stay calm and wait for Sony to respond properly. If your system has been affected you should call the support line: 800-345-7669 (800-345-SONY). They most likely are very aware of the situation and you most likely will be told to just sit tight and wait as they solve the issue.
Remember: Don’t freak out unless Sony tells you otherwise.
They most likely have plenty of people working on it and the last thing a call rep needs is someone screaming at them like this is their fault.
