Axiom Verge (AV) will soon be heading to your Wii U, PlayStation Vita and Xbox One consoles. If you haven’t heard of it, AV is an indie title developed solely by industry veteran Thomas Happ (he also serves as the sole artist & musician). AV started out as a hobby for Happ back in 2010, and was finally released for PlayStation 4 on March 31, 2015 and PC on May 14, 2015. Now it’s finally coming to more consoles.
AV is a modern day Metrovania title — a scrolling action-adventure foray. By design, these games often have you traversing a large map sprinkled with danger, upgrades, challenges, and explosions. AV in particular takes a few nods and homages to the classics (in particular Super Metroid). Upon its original release, it scored very well.
As seen by our own review, the game’s notable features include familiarity with the genre and how it all comes together to stay fresh. Since its release, it went on to be considered one of the best rated PlayStation 4 titles by the end of 2015.
Axiom Verge will be releasing for the Vita first, and the Wii U and Xbox One ports will follow this year.
