Fans of the ol’ Webhead were treated to a lengthy Spider-Man 2 gameplay trailer to cap off the May 2023 PlayStation Showcase. Sony gave viewers an extended look at Spider-Man 2, complete with a look at Kraven the Hunter and Lizard, as well as a few action-packed set pieces showing off the ability to play as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
Set to release in fall 2023 on PS5, the sequel will see you controlling both Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they fight against a new group of villains in NYC. This time, as well as dealing with Venom, Peter and Miles will need to contend with Kraven the Hunter and Lizard. The trailer showed off a rather lengthy mission involving Lizard as Peter and Miles swung across the rivers of NYC.
As was confirmed prior to the PlayStation Showcase, Spider-Man 2 will not be featuring cooperative play despite there being two playable characters. The game still has both of its Spider-Men, but you’ll take control of one or the other based on certain story events. It does seem as if you can freely swap between them in action sequences, but there won’t be any two-player shenanigans going on.
There was also no mention of any potential PC port for Spider-Man 2, but that makes sense. PlayStation head Jim Ryan confirmed recently that PC players were fine waiting “two or three” years for PlayStation exclusives to hit PC. With the PS4 game and its semi-sequel Miles Morales having done well on Steam, it really is just a matter of time before players will be able to web sling on PC again. Stay tuned for more Spider-Man 2 gameplay and news as we get a hold of it.
