Splatoon 3 is Real, but We’ll Have to Wait Until 2022

Nintendo is working on Splatoon 3, but we'll have to be content with the first Splatoon 3 trailer for a while yet.

Splatoon 3 is in production, and it’s coming to Nintendo Switch in 2022. Nintendo announced the third entry in the endless war between Inklings and Octolings during the February Nintendo Direct and unveiled a first look at it.

Splatoon 3 takes place in a brand-new area, the “sun-scorched Splatlands” and the city of Splatsville. Something terrible has happened, and the Inklings and Octolings make their way to Splatsville in the aftermath, looking for a new life — and plenty of new fights.

We don’t know much about Splatoon 3 yet, but the trailer description says there will be new moves, new weapons, and much more.

There’s also a detailed character creation screen at the start of the game, offering several skin, eye, and hair options plus a chance to customize the strange little creature that accompanies the protagonist Inkling.

Nintendo broke its long-standing rule of not revealing games more than a year away, but it promised more Splatoon 3 information over the coming year.
