The Star Wars Battlefront II early access open beta began October 4, but now, October 6-9, it’s open to everyone. All interested PC, Xbox One, and PS4 owners can download the beta until October 9 at 4:00 UTC. (That’s midnight EST, in case you’re wondering.) The open beta includes several different game challenges: Arcade Challenges, Galactic Assault Challenges, and Starfighter Challenges. Most of these are multiplayer, though there is a single player mode on offer too.

Gameplay Modes

In Galactic Assault, you’ll play either as a Clone Trooper, defending the royal palace of Naboo from enemy assaults, or you’ll storm the palace as a member of the Separatist Army. Either way, players can choose from four different unit types and call upon a variety of vehicles, spacecraft, and heroes for support. Starfighter Assault sees you piloting Rebel craft, in an attempt to destroy an imperial star Star Destroyer over Fondor, or taking command of Galactic Empire ships to try and defend it.

The Strike scenario pits Resistance and First Order armies against each other. You’ll choose your side and battle it out around Maz’s castle. And Arcade mode is for the single-player experience, placing you in Theebs in a variety of different scenarios.

Rewards

In all of these modes, you have the opportunity to earn rewards, and EA lets you carry these over into the full game. Here are the requirements for obtaining rewards in each mode:

Arcade Challenges — October 6

  • Win Arcade while defeating 30 enemies
  • Finish 3 Arcade scenarios

Galactic Assault Challenges — October 7

  • Play a round of Galactic Assault
  • As a Reinforcement, defeat 20 enemies
  • Play as a trooper, reinforcement, hero, and villain
  • Defeat a hero, villain, reinforcement, and trooper

Starfighter Assault Challenges

  • Become a Hero Ship
  • Destroy 5 Turrets and 5 Objectives
  • Get a Savior Kill Assist 25 times
