Look out Rebels, the Empire is about to attack your base on Hoth! At the EA press release at this year’s E3, the team at DICE gave a 30-second teaser trailer for its highly anticipated next-gen first person shooter, Star Wars: Battlefront!  This news confirms that the game is indeed being developed and will hopefully give Battlefront fans the sequel they deserve.

Ever since Star Wars: Battlefront 2 made an appearance on consoles and PC in 2005, fans have been clamoring for DICE to release a next-gen sequel.  With its fast paced gunplay and action like Battlefield 3, and its focus on the Star Wars universe, it seemed almost certain that another game would be made on next-gen hardware.  Unfortunately for both rebels and loyalists, no new games appeared on any of the current systems.

Now that Star Wars: Battlefront has been confirmed to be in development, fans across the galaxy will be able to fly X-Wings, blast Storm Troopers with laser pistols, or cut through enemy defenses with their lightsabers in the near future.

No release date has been given, but with the game still in development, it is safe to assume that it will be released sometime in 2014 or 2015.
