Gone are the days when players get a demo disc in the mail, or wait for one to download off their network. Now, betas are the new demos, and developers encourage devoted players to stress test their upcoming titles.
The Star Wars Battlefront beta launches on October 8th and runs through October 12th. Players will have access only to the 40-player Walker assault that takes place on Hoth, the popular ice planet from the second Star Wars film The Empire Strikes Back.
Unfortunately, character progression, unlocked items, and other player stats accumulated during the beta will not carry over to the full game. EA also stresses that players will encounter a lot of hiccups, because the game is still in the beta stage. The biggest head-scratcher is that Star Wars Battlefront will not include a story mode. It will be solely multiplayer in both on land and in space.
Star Wars Battlefront will drop November 17th for PS4, Xbox One and PC. It will be released a month before the brand new movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. EA has also announced tie-in DLC for the new Star Wars.
