Star Wars Outlaws Revealed During Summer Game Fest

Ubisoft's open-world Star Wars game got a name and a trailer at Summer Game Fest.

It has been long known that there is a new, big story-driven Star Wars game stewing over at Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment. Today, at the Summer Game Fest Xbox Showcase, Massive’s game was finally unveiled with a full trailer that led into a title announcement. The game is called Star Wars Outlaws and it was slapped with a release date of 2024.

We learn quite a few things from the Outlaws trailer, including when this takes place and who it stars. In the era of the Empire, you play a female smuggler whose world is a galaxy far away. Her biggest concerns at the Syndicates and in the cinematic trailer we see how she and her (adorable) creature friend are savvy at escaping, which it seems will include some combat and platforming.

It’s been rumored that this is a narrative-focused open world game, but the trailer didn’t show any type of gameplay. It was more of a tone piece that set up that this Star Wars adventure will be about the underworld. Our hero seems like a Han Solo type but with the more heroic streak of a Jyn Erso.

As a Star Wars fan, this trailer definitely piqued my interest. Most exciting of all, we get to see the gameplay in action at the Ubisoft Forward event on June 12. Hopefully, we already get to see Star Wars Outlaws in action.
