Prepare yourself for an atmospheric horror game with Still Wakes the Deep, developed by The Chinese Room, creators of Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture. Announced during Summer Game Fest at the Xbox Games Showcase, the first person narrative horror game will be available in early 2024. Launching on Xbox Series X|S, PC and PS5, you’ll also be able to get spooked day one with Games Pass for PC and Xbox. Here’s what we know about Still Wakes the Deep.
You’ll be playing as a member of the oil rig Beira D, located in the deep waters off the coast of Scotland. Oil isn’t the only thing that’s been brought aboard, as something now stalks the inhabitants of the rig. With a fierce storm raging outside, your only escape is rendered useless. With all communication cut off, either due to the storm or the menace that now walks the halls, you’re on your own. Face off with whatever have come from the deep in a desperate bid to survive.
The trailer features a haunting melody as we see the storm raging outside the rig. The industrial, closed in feel of the space feels even smaller as we run through various areas. None of the creature or entity was revealed, except right at the end of the trailer when we see something shadowy run across a hallway and hear a guttural scream when a door is sealed shut between it and you.
No firm release date has been revealed yet. However, Still Wakes the Deep will be featured as the cover story for Edge Magazine. With an in depth look at the game we may get more information soon. Stay tuned for updates with GameSkinny’s news tab.
