Super Mario Run was set to release on Android today, March 23. But instead, Nintendo put the game on Google Play shelves a day before expected. And that’s good news for the Android community, since the game has been an iOS exclusive for several months.
Nintendo revealed the early launch in a Tweet:
We’ve released #SuperMarioRun on Android a bit early! Download it now on Google Play: https://t.co/u4H9bycTyr pic.twitter.com/4nHnPWD9de

In the game, the player controls a running Mario by tapping the screen to jump and spin their way to course completion. In the World Tour mode, there are 24 courses to clear across 6 worlds. Players can also compete against their friends in Toad Rally and build their own kingdoms.
In addition to bringing Super Mario Run to Android, Nintendo has also updated the game to Version 2.0 on both Android and iOS. This update includes new characters to play and more free content. According to the game’s Google Play page, it has already been reviewed over 120,000 times, with the majority of reviews being 5 stars.
The full game can be purchased on both platforms for a one-time payment of $9.99.
