Nintendo annouces release window for both the 3DS and the Wii U versions of Smash Bros.

The 3DS version of the game has a due date of the Summer of 2014, while the Wii U version will have a Winter 2014 release. The 3DS version of the game will run at 60 fps. It was not revealed why the games have different release windows, rather than being released together.

During the broadcast, Nintendo showed some returning characters.

Zero Suit Samus will be returning. However, rather than being a transformation like she had before, she is now her own stand alone character. She has been given jet boots as a means of moving and attacking. Sheik was also confirmed to return as well. Like Zero Suit Samus, she is now a stand alone character. She was also given a new move list to help balance her out. Finally, Yoshi is now returning for Smash Bros. This time though, Yoshi will stand upright, rather than being hunched over like a dinosaur.

During the Smash Bros. broadcast, Nintendo revealed two new playable characters.

The first was Charizard. This time, however, Charizard is a stand alone character, rather than being one of the Pokémon that the Pokémon Trainer used like the last game. It was also shown that players will be able to transform into his Mega Evolution from Pokémon X and Y. The second new character is a Pokémon as well: water starter Greninja. It seems the Pokémon lineup for the new Smash Bros. is solid. Now we need Jigglypuff.

While some of the character announcements for Smash Bros. made sense, some surprised me.

Yoshi made sense, and I was wondering when they would announce him.  Zero Suit Samus and Sheik were also no surprise, yet how they work this time is what surprised me. I did not see those two characters has stand alone characters, and thought they would be transformations again. Same with Charizard. It does not surprise me, but I thought that if he was in it, he would be one of the Pokémon Trainer’s Pokémon. Greninja on thee other hand totally caught me by surprise. I expected Mewtwo before Greninja. Now they need to announce Simon Belmont from the Castlevania series. I know that is a long shot, but I would be really happy if he was a guest character, as well any Castlevania character. And Jigglypuff. We need Jigglypuff.
