Bioware is adding some serious content to Star Wars: The Old Republic in the newest patch. Game update 2.4: The Dread War brings big changes to PVP and ranked PVP, new arenas, two new operations, and a new story mission.
Ranked PvP gets an overhaul
The Dread War adds new 4v4 warzone arenas for ranked and normal. There will be three different arenas at launch. The object is just to kill enemy players and the last team standing, wins. The old 8v8 ranked mode is being taken away because of this change. There is also a new tier of gear called Obroan, which can be obtained with ranked warzone commendations as well as the associated Conqueror piece from the previous tier. Conqueror gear will be purchasable with normal warzone commendations and Partisan gear will no longer be purchasable.
Conclude the epic story arc
The Dread Masters were released from Belsavis by players at the launch of the game and they have been causing havoc ever since. They are a huge part of the story and the operations. A new story mission will be added, that shows the Dread Masters plot, as well two new operations. The first is the Dread Fortress, where you will fight servants as well as one of the actual Dread Masters. The second is Dread Palace, where players will see the end of the Dread Masters arc.
There are also some class changes, but those are subject to change by the time the patch goes live. Game Update 2.4: the Dread War goes live October 1st.
What do you think of the changes to Star Wars: The Old Republic? Do these changes excite you into trying the game, or returning if you’ve played before? Let me know in the comments.
