We’ve been keeping an eye on the System Shock Remake since around the time of its 2016 Kickstarter campaign. Since then, a lot has happened with Nightdive’s reboot, including multiple delays and a complete restart in development.
The studio released a new trailer over the weekend during the Guerilla Collective Showcase. The trailer is fairly short, but it gives fans a good glimpse of the game. There’s lots of shooting, lots of exploding, and lots of mutant bashing. You can see it all in the trailer above.
An alpha demo of the game is currently available through both Steam and Good Old Games (GOG), though it’s unclear for how long. We were able to try out the pre-alpha demo that was available during Steam’s Games Festival back in December and were left with mixed feelings. Ty Arthur said:
In the end, I came away neither hyped nor overly disappointed after playing the demo. My gut feeling? If the development crew doesn’t run out of money and actually releases a finished product, I expect it will be just all right. But we’ll have to see.
The System Shock Remake is currently in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It’s not to be confused with System Shock 3, which is the sequel to (gasp) System Shock 2. Tencent is now working on that game, and there’s no word on when it will release or what platforms it will ultimately call home.
Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more on the System Shock franchise as we learn more. Check out the demo over on GOG and Steam.
