Good news for PlayStation fans, Sony has confirmed that they are working on bringing PlayStation 2 emulation to the PlayStation 4. According to a post on Wired, a Sony representative emailed them saying, “we are working on utilizing PS2 emulation technology to bring PS2 games forward to the current generation.”
Sony has already started bringing over PlayStation 2 games to the PlayStation 4. In their Star Wars Battlefront console bundle, they have included a download code for Super Star Wars, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, Star Wars: Racer Revenge and Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter. With the exception of Super Star Wars, all other titles were previously released on the PS2. All these game will be available to but separately on the PlayStation Store, with Super Star Wars also available for cross-buy on the PlayStation Vita.
So what do you think? Is this a good step forward for Sony, bringing PS2 emulation to the PS4 and could we also expect PS1 and PS3 games be available on a later date? Let us know in the comments below.
