Early today, a video was posted on AOL that was a leaked IGN announcement trailer for Tekken 7 supposed to have aired this evening during EVO. According to Kotaku’s article on the leak the video features Tekken producer and creator Katsuhiro Harada discussing his reasoning for designing the game with the Unreal 4 engine. He cites the engine’s ability to “rapidly achieve visual quality expected on next-gen platforms and go beyond it.”
Naturally, the video did not remain on AOL long before it was removed, however it has already been reposted to many different video hosting sites around the web. Check it out below:
It has been more than 7 years since the last installment in the Tekken franchise, so naturally this leak is huge news for fans. Unfortunately, besides discussing the engine the game will run on, the leaked video gives no information about a release date or even what platforms Tekken 7 will run on. Even so, the leaked video does provide a sneak peak at the official announcement and ruined a bit of the surprise – if IGN did intend for it to be a surprise at all – for fans.
Namco Bandai and Harada have not commented yet on the leak. Stay tuned to the EVO stream over at IGN for the official announcement of Tekken 7 this evening.
