Tekken 8 King Trailer Shows Who Rules the Ring

DDT the competition with King in Tekken 8.

Tekken 8‘s King is everyone’s favorite tiger mask-wearing wrestler, returning more jacked than ever. Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for its upcoming fighting game sequel showcasing some of, but not all, of his moveset and gives a look at his critical art.

Bandai Namco has already revealed a handful of returning fighters for the King of Iron Fist tournament, including Marshall Law, Paul Phoenix, Jin, and Kazuya. You can see the latest two-minute trailer and King in all his glory below.

King has always been a flashy fighter, showing up in different iterations in all of the Tekken games, so it makes sense that his moves are even more exaggerated in Tekken 8. His critical art, in particular, looks like something that could have come out of an anime. Thanks to the visual fidelity on display with Tekken 8’s engine, it’s a treat just watching these characters in motion.

For those unfamiliar with King or Tekken, his game plan typically revolves around closing the distance and utilizing command grabs. Tekken is built around juggling opponents, but King typically has a few short attack strings that end with either a powerbomb or piledriver. He doesn’t break the mold of grappler characters but enhances them a bit by offering up a more distinctly wrestler-like vibe.

Tekken 8 is scheduled for release in 2024 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. While brand-new characters are expected to make the roster, Bandai Namco has yet to reveal them.
