The very popular Steam game, Terraria, finally has an official release for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U after a partnership between the developer Re-Logic and 505 Games.
Terraria, the 2D sandbox game
Terraria is a fantastic sandbox game that has been gathering updates for many years. It has a resemblance to Minecraft in the aspect that there are over 1,300 crafting recipes, and the world is filled with plenty of foes to battle with. Since spelunking is the key with Terraria, you’ll have to mine your materials and hoard them from exploring the vast land. By doing so, you’ll be able to progress in the game and gain better equipment.
Details on the Nintendo Versions
The Nintendo versions are utilizing the touchscreen abilities that the 3DS and Wii U have. Using local wi-fi on the 3DS version up to four people can play Terraria together, where the Wii U edition will support up to eight players online, but only four locally through split-screen.
This annoucement on the expansion of Terraria is coming straight from Gamescom, and they will be featuring a Nintendo booth where Terraria will hopefully be a spotlight.
Prefer to Play on Consoles?
Terraria has always been available on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and mobile devices. This new addition will be the first time Re-Logic is launching their famous game Terraria on Nintendo hardware. Personally I’ve always played it on Steam and found that to be a great version.
Rumored for a 3DS release in October
There’s no official launch date for 3DS and Wii U Terraria, but we can expect more details from Gamescom. Based on a release from Amazon, Terraria is available for the Nintendo 3DS as of October 31st, which is quickly approaching.
Would you be up to playing this 2D sandbox game on your Nintendo consoles? I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
