Nintendo fans with a penchant for sandbox games should get excited, because Terraria‘s finally making its way to the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS next year.
Terraria heading to Nintendo’s current consoles was widely speculated and rumored, but never confirmed until last week with the announcement’s posting on the official Terraria forums. The ports are being handled by 505 Games as with versions of the game other than the PC version.
505 Games has separate development teams for each version of Terraria, and the Wii U and 3DS versions are no different. Both are being handled by different development teams, so as to not slow down update releases after launch.
Terraria on the Wii U will allow for one to eight people to play together online, and four people to play together locally. Player one will have the option to change the display to the Gamepad instead of splitting the screen with other local players. The 3DS version will have one to four player ad hoc play.
Terraria‘s been on every other console, and it’s about time it’s finally making its way to Nintendo platforms. 505 Games estimates it will be ready for launch in early 2016.
2016 – The year Terraria was finally released on every modern console. Who’d have thought?
