After a successful release on July 29, 2015, followed by being greenlit on August 6th, 2015 on Steam Greenlight, The Consuming Shadow Insanity Edition is now available to buy on Steam for $9.99.
The Consuming Shadow is a procedurally generated, Lovecraftian roguelike. The game is set in the United Kingdom where an ancient evil is attempting to enter the world. The only way to stop it is to cast the Ritual of Banishment, sending it back to where it once came. With only 60 hours, you must find the Ritual of Banishment and figure out which one of the three gods are invading, then banish it. Failure to do so will result in the shadow consuming everything.
To celebrate the Steam launch, developer Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw has added a collection of new content to the game.
The new content for the Insanity Edition includes:
- 2 all-new monsters including 6 new variants of existing ones
- 12 Challenge Modes
- Play the standard game with modifiers to add new difficulty
- A new challenge every day with Daily Challenge
- The Descent, an infinite dungeon mode.
- 5 Steam Trading Cards
- 95 Achievements to Unlock
The new content added to the game is sure to make an already extremely deep game even more interesting and enjoyable. Players that purchased the game prior to the Steam release via the Humble Store can get a Steam Key for the game through the store. It has been noted that save games will not be transferable from the Humble Store version to the Steam version. This is due to various changes that have been made to the game and the save file system.
If you ever considered giving The Consuming Shadow a try or needed a reason to return to the game, there is certainly no better time play to it than now.
