Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 will be free to play this weekend, February 27 to March 2, on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The F2P period comes ahead of the looter-shooter’s upcoming DLC, Warlords of New York.
The free play period includes access to the full game, and progression will carry over for players who choose to purchase the game once the weekend is over. Those interested can be pre-load The Division 2 now and begin playing at 3 a.m. EST on February 27. The free weekend ends at 3 a.m. EST on March 2.
Those who took advantage of The Division 2‘s previous free weekend will see their progress pulled over as well. PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold is required to play the always-online title.
Now is the perfect time to jump into the looter shooter for anyone that’s been curious. Not only does the free weekend act as a wide-ranging demo for the game, but The Division 2 is only $3 on Steam, PSN, and the Xbox Store.
Warlords of New York is set to release on March 3. It is not part of The Division 2‘s first season and must be purchased separately. Taking players back to New York, the DLC expansion will bring a lot of changes to the game, including some to the UI and its progression systems.
More exciting for long-time players, though, are the new additions that will come in the form of weapons and gear, all of which will be used to bring down Aaron Keener, who Ubisoft says is “a former Division Agent turned Rogue.”
The developer released an animated teaser trailer for the upcoming story DLC, which can be seen at the top of this article. Centered on the first game’s returning antagonist, Theo Parnell, James Dragov, Javier Kajika, and Vivian Conley, the short shows how those betrayed by The Division came together.
