A new trailer for The Witcher 3 has been released today at E3, The trailer features multiple cutscenes, great graphics made with a new renderer, horse riding, a multi-region open-world map, tactical combat and actual gameplay footage.
Needles to say it looks awesome.
How to Find the Secret Message
That’s right – nestled deep in the cereal box goodness that was the The Witcher 3 trailer, developer CD Projekt Red has included a hidden message that flashes for less than a second at minute 1:41.
(Just press pause really fast.)
“Today you got your first glimpse of gameplay footage from TW3. Though no developer was harmed during the making of this video, we did work ourselves to the bone and put a lot of heart into making all this happen, there is still a long road ahead and your feedback, comments and love are needed to fuel our passion so that we can make The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt a really great game. Head over to our forums, Hell send us letters if you want to – just be with us! We need you.”
The company also teased something else. A secret story? DLC? A new IP? I don’t know.
“By the way, notice the CGI takes in the trailer? Yeah, they are part of something bigger… Curious? Try here www.thewitcher.com/killingmonsters”
Where it Leads
If you visit the page you’ll find a message that reads:
“Each week we’ll present you with goodies. Expect images, sounds … and maybe… a combination of both. You can be sure of one thing – this all leads to something. SOMETHING BIG”
What it Means
The game will feature a branching narrative and non-linear storytelling, according to The Wicher 3 Executive Producer John Mamais the game will have 50 hours of gameplay for the main story but it could end up being over 100 hours if you include all side missions.
Some of the complaints about The Witcher 2 were centered on the combat mechanics, Mamais has stated that the fighting system has been enhanced to include new tactical and strategic mechanics.
Regarding character progression and customization Mamais revealed that Sword combat, alchemy and magical combat are features that are still part of The Witcher 3.
The game will be released in 2014.
